RSP Apprentice Recruitment 2026 Details
Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), Learning & Development Department, invites applications from all eligible Indian Citizens to join the One Year Apprenticeship Training Programme (as per the Apprentices Act 1961 and its subsequent amendments) as an Apprentice at RSP, Rourkela for the year 2026-27. This programme is designed to provide hands-on experience and practical knowledge in a professional environment, helping participants enhance their skills and boost their career prospects.
Categories of Apprenticeship
- Trade Apprentices (ITI qualification) - 421 posts across 18 trades such as Electrician, Fitter, COPA, Welder, Machinist, Turner, etc.
- Graduate/Technician Apprentices - Engineering disciplines (Degree/Diploma) such as Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Science, IT, Electronics, Metallurgy, Automobile, etc.
- Graduate/Diploma Apprentices - Non-Engineering & Medical streams such as BA, B.Sc, B.Com, BCA, BBA, B.Sc Nursing, GNM, DMLT, DRT, DXT, DOTT, D.Pharma, and Data Entry Operator (PGDCA).
Selection Process
- Online registration on the respective Government of India apprenticeship portal
- Shortlisting on the basis of academic merit (30% weightage to Class-X marks and 70% weightage to Degree/Diploma/ITI marks)
- Walk-in document verification at RSP, Rourkela as per the notified schedule
- Medical fitness certification from a Government hospital
Important Guidelines & Preparation Tips
- Only candidates who completed their qualifying examination as regular candidates are eligible to apply.
- Only candidates who passed the qualifying examination in the last five years (2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 & 2026) are eligible.
- Candidates who have already undergone or are currently undergoing apprenticeship training, or have one year of job experience, under any establishment are NOT eligible.
- For Trade Apprentices, registration is required on apprenticeshipindia.org; for Graduate/Technician Apprentices, registration is required on the NATS portal (nats.education.gov.in).
- The candidate's bank account must be DBT enabled with KYC verified.
- Selection is based on academic merit: 30% weightage to Class-X marks and 70% weightage to Degree/Diploma/ITI marks.
- RSP will not provide accommodation or travel allowance during the training.
- RSP has no obligation to offer regular employment after completion of the apprenticeship.
How to Apply
- For ITI/Trade Apprentices: Register at http://apprenticeshipindia.org as a candidate.
- Login to the apprenticeship portal, go to Apprenticeship Opportunity, search by Establishment Name 'SAIL ROURKELA STEEL PLANT', and apply for the prescribed trade against the vacancies shown.
- For Graduate/Diploma Apprentices: Register at https://nats.education.gov.in as a student.
- Login to the NATS portal home page, go to Establishment Requests, click Find Establishments, and select 'Steel Authority of India Limited, Rourkela Steel Plant' to apply in the relevant engineering/other branch.
- After applying online, eligible candidates must walk in for document verification at the Central Recreation Room, Trainees' Hostel, Sector-5, Rourkela, as per the trade/branch-wise schedule between 01 September 2026 and 26 September 2026.
- Carry original Institution Leaving Certificate, self-attested Matriculation certificate, Provisional Pass Certificate, category certificate (if applicable), Aadhaar card, and Medical Fitness Certificate from a Government hospital at the time of walk-in.
